This prestigious recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff and students at DMS. It takes a tremendous effort from both educators and students to achieve such outstanding results, and USD 216 is proud of your hard work. This award is a well-deserved acknowledgement of your commitment to academic excellence!
This year, 97 schools from around the state have been named as recipients of the 2023 Challenge Award of Merit.  Since its inception in 2002, more than 1,900 awards have been presented to schools across the state.  
The Challenge Award of Merit recognizes schools for outstanding achievement and uncommon accomplishments based on Kansas Assessment results in math and reading, graduation rates, chronic absenteeism rates and the socio-economic status of those taking the test.
