The High School Volleyball team got a chance to travel to Lawrence, KS, and attend a volleyball camp at KU. This is the first year the girls and coaches have participated in this camp. They learned new skills and strategies from experienced coaches at KU. Below you can find stories from the coaches.
Coach Hahn
This past week, the Deerfield High School Volleyball program took ten girls to participate in the KU team volleyball camp. Everyone had a blast, and the girls were excited to take a picture with Jalen Wilson from the men's basketball team! Our team was physically, emotionally, and mentally challenged daily, progressing with each session. Even the other coaching staff noticed their progress! This will surely be an experience they will talk about for a long time! I hope to continue to take them to future skills or team camps.
Coach Hastings
We had a great time at KU Team Camp! Our girls improved so much in the short three days! I enjoyed watching them learn and play together every night. We got to experience a lot of new drills that will help us be successful this season. I enjoyed learning and getting to use the KU coaches as a tool to grow as a coach. The girls worked hard all three days of camp, and I am excited to watch the girls this season and continue our success during camp!
Coach McEntee
As a first-year volleyball coach, I was excited to go to camp! I had no idea what to expect. I was able to learn so much not only from the KU coach but also from our returning Spartan coaches and Coach Miller who has prior volleyball coaching experience.
These girls worked hard this week, and if "most improved" was an award, they would have won hands down! Other coaches even noticed how much our girls improved in such a short time!
