On March 21st Deerfield High school is hosting Reality U for all Lakin and Deerfield 8,10,11, and 12th grade students. Reality U aims to:
- Teach teens that their performance in school today can affect their financial future.
- Provide students with the opportunity to learn and practice personal finance skills.
- Mobilize the community to become involved stakeholders in education, particularly financial literacy education in their local schools.
- Integrate Individual Plan of Study components into the Reality U preparation, the simulation/booths, and the debriefing process.
We will have three rotations with one being the Reality U simulation, one being business, industry and colleges to share information with students about their programs and benefits to help make connections, and one being speakers making a living wage that have certifications, associates, bachelors, masters and doctorates to talk to kids about the different paths that can be taken to make a living wage.
